Reuben Bharucha is part of the Young European Movement in Edinburgh. He spent much of his life in Vienna and is currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in History at the University of Edinburgh. His interests include travelling, photography, current affairs and history.

Angesichts der ange-spannten Beziehungen zwischen dem Westen und China, die nach der aktuellen Pandemie keine Anzeichen der Besserung zeigen, werden die Länder Südostasiens wahrscheinlich an Bedeutung gewinnen. Der Verband Südostasiatischer Nationen (ASEAN), zehn der elf Staa-ten der Region (mit Ausnahme von Osttimor) vereinend, hat das Potenzial, eine immer wichtigere Rolle in der Welt zu spielen.

Friend and Foe ?

Quel avenir pour l’ANASE ?

Depuis maintenant plus de dix ans, l’Asie du Sud-Est est en plein essor. Au vu des relations difficiles entre la Chine et l’Occident – qui ne semblent pas prêtes de s’améliorer après la pandémie actuelle – il est probable que les pays du Sud-Est soient appelés à gagner en importance. L’Association des Nations de l’Asie du Sud-Est (ANASE) (Association of Southeast Asian Nations, ASEAN), qui rassemble dix des onze Etats de la région (à l’exception du Timor oriental), a le potentiel de jouer un rôle sur la scène mondiale toujours plus important.
