Drakoulis Goudis is a Greek writer who has settled in Belgium after living in six different countries, a contributor for Stand Up for Europe, and the Secretary General of the Young European Federalists in Brussels. He has a bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Patras and a master’s degree in Renewable Energy from the University of Loughborough. A rare case of someone with a STEM background in politics, he enjoys reading novels and travelling around Europe with good company when he has spare time. Comment saper la solidarité européenne, selon la méthode Bart de Wever

En décembre, le Conseil européen a enfin résolu le blocage de plusieurs mois, qui portait sur le financement de l’Ukraine. La décision d’abandonner le modèle d’un prêt de réparation au profit d’un emprunt commun, qui permettrait de lever 90 milliards d’euros par le biais d’une dette commune, n’est pas un signe de faiblesse. Au contraire, d’un point de vue fédéraliste, elle a créé un précédent d’envergure : un pas de plus vers les euro-obligations et un pas de plus vers l’union budgétaire. Pourtant, ce dénouement a été éclipsé par le comportement et le discours d’un personnage inattendu : le Premier ministre belge, Bart De Wever. Alors que son opposition au plan de la Commission lui a valu des éloges dans son pays et des critiques à l’étranger, les deux camps sont passés à côté de l’essentiel. Le plus important n’était pas la demande de partage des risques formulée par la Belgique, mais le raisonnement ouvertement anti-européen émis par De Wever. Ce type de raisonnement sape la confiance entre les États membres – en particulier ceux qui vivent sous la menace de l’agression russe.
