Defne Öyçüm

Defne Öyçüm (18) is currently studying to finish her joint bachelor degree in European Studies at the Jagellonian University Krakow as part of the UnaEuropa alliance coordinated by KU Leuven. Her time in United World Colleges of the Adriatic, Italy exemplified her appreciation of multicultural dialogue and further influenced her passion in European affairs. Through her participation in “Newsroom Europe” she aims to develop her journalism skills and wishes to focus on how to tell stories responsibly. She is keen on presenting an objective European narrative that stays true to European values and fosters integration. Her interests include European Economics, identity politics, and peacebuilding initiatives specifically in Cyprus, the county of her origin.
